A day of adventure in Queenstown: The day of adventure was bright and brisk. Larry, Guy, and Peter went to Pipeline Bungy for the weigh in (Peter and Guy weighing in, Larry making sure everything was proper!). Guy weighed in at 12 1/2 stones, and this was written on his hand (see pictures).

The threesome then sped out on a frightful high speed boat ride through the narrow, sinewy canyon. The 102 meter bungy jump takes place off the Pipeline bridge, a wooden walkway bridge, coated with ice, and swaying with the wind. Guy was strapped into the bungy cord in a "reconditioned" dental chair, all of which was filmed in living color. When a concerned Guy asked about the 12 1/2 stone estimate being good enough, the worker responded with "this isn't an exact science, mate!" Nonetheless, Guy demonstrated extreme bravery and executed a perfect swan dive with pointed toes and fingers to the very end. Peter also made the jump and a great deal of celebration followed.

The other fellows were involved in different activities. Emil, Kurt, and Regis rode the tram up the mountain and then hiked above the treeline. When the narrow trail (3 feet) turned towards a sheer cliff on either side, these fellows also had the opportunity to demonstrate their bravery. Paul and Cato rested in the morning in preparation for a round of golf at the famed Milbrook Golf Club, where President Clinton hopes to play later in the summer when he visits New Zealand for the APEC meeting. They were joined for golf by Emil, while the other fellows (including Peter) had further adventures in the afternoon. The golf fellows had a fabulous day of golf on a near empty, but extremely challenging course.

The remaining fellows traveled to the white water rapid start site by an exciting helicopter ride over the mountains and down the canyon. The fellows were dressed in wet suits, since the water temperature is approximately 40 degrees. Fortunately, the fellows all remained in the boat during the adventure, and luckily were able to fish four other helpless rafters out of a whirlpool called the toilet when they were unable to be rescued by ropes. A great celebrations was shared once the river was conquered that included a trip to the hot tub and a warm meal in town. In all, Guy completed the Awesome Foursome, Larry the Terrible Threesome, while Regis and Kurt the Terrifying Twosome. Paul, Cato, and Emil played excellent golf, stayed warm and unbattered, and were definite winners for the day!
