Day 36

The fellows travel to Christchurch, New Zealand. The fellows were picked up at the Melbourne Club by Richard De Steiger and departed in the morning for New Zealand. The fellows were greeted in Christchurch by their local host, Mr. Gary Hooper (ABC 1990) and Professor Alistair Rothwell (ABC 1980) and after dropping their bags off at the Chateau Hotel, the fellows were taken on a drive up into the mountains overlooking Christchurch. The view was outstanding, with Christchurch on a narrow plane adjacent to the Pacific Ocean. Extremely strong winds were present on the mountain top (see pictures).

That evening the fellows had an outstanding barbeque dinner at the lovely home of Gary and Lee Hooper. The fellows made excellent use of the lighted tennis court and basketball court and several spirited games were played in the various sports. While the winners gloated and the losers sought rematches, all of the fellows had a good time. The fellows then returned to the Chateau to rest before the morning program.
