Day 37

The fellows visit Christchurch Hospital: The fellows were picked up from the hotel in the morning by Gary Hooper. The fellows visited Gary's office and had the opportunity to discuss the manner in which orthopaedics is practiced in New Zealand, including the structure of teaching hospitals, the insurance industry, and the manner in which orthopaedic surgeons practice in New Zealand. Following this very informative discussion, the fellows traveled to the Christchurch Hospital for an academic session. A large number of orthopaedic surgeons flew into Christchurch in the morning to attend the sessions, including surgeons from areas such as Wellington and Dunedin. The fellows participated in an outstanding and very interactive session. Larry, Kurt, Cato, Regis, and Paul presented papers, with Guy and Emil scheduled to present the following day.

In the evening the fellows attended a banquet at the Mona ValeRestaurant. Larry presented a toast for the fellows.
