Day 38

The fellows visit Christchurch Hospital and travel to Queenstown.

The fellows had a pleasant walk to the Christchurch Hospital where they were the guests of Professor Alistair Rothwell and met with the registrars. A highly interactive session occurred, including case presentations and talks by Guy and Emil. The fellows they returned to the Chateau where they were accompanied by Mr. Peter Devane (ABC 1999) and several of the registrars for lunch. The fellows then departed for Queestown. Queenstown is a is located on the South Island where it is nestled in the mountains, making airflight an exciting event. This was a good introduction, since the fellows were about to learn that Queenstown is a haven for extreme sports enthusiasts. The fellows settled into comfortable lodgings at the Millenium hotel with their host, Peter Devane. After a trip to the gym and hot tub, the fellows and Peter had a dinner in town where the upcoming adventures were discussed, including the famed Awesome Foursome (high speed boat ride through the canyon, the 102 meter bungy jump, the helicopter ride, and the whitewater rafting). The fellows returned to the hotel and tried not to let any anxieties stand in the way of a good night's sleep!
