Bristol and Bath. The fellows enjoyed a relaxing Saturday
morning. Regis, Larry, Kurt, and Emil went for a run, while some of the
other fellows toured the town of Bristol. The fellows then traveled to Bath,
and again were hosted at the home of Alistair Ross. After an exceptional
lunch at a local restaurant, the fellows went pigeon shooting. Paul, despite his city background (or maybe because of it!) turned out to be an
exceptional shot and took first prize, and inscribed beer mug from the shooting club . The fellows greatly appreciated the company of Alistairs
wife, Alex, and son James, as well as John Hardy. In the evening, the fellows had dinner with Professor Learmonth and assorted faculty members at
Belgo, a Belgian restaurant in the city of Bristol.
On the return home, Regis, Larry, Kurt, Cato, and Emil got stuck in a
small elevator in the Berkeley Square Inn. Since they were squeezed in quite
tight, this caused a great deal of anxiety. The initial call, by Larry, who
remained the calmest did not create the necessary sense of urgency in the
front desk clerk. However, a second call by Cato demanding a call to the
fire company produced the desired response and the frightened fellows were
soon freed. There were no further problems that evening. |
