The fellows left London on an early train and traveled to Bristol where they were met at the train station by Professor Ian Learmonth. The fellows left there luggage at the Berkeley Square Hotel and then went to the Southmead Hospital where the staff presented several outstanding papers on trauma and total joint replacement. Three fellows presented papers: Paul presented his work on detection of infection around total joint arthroplasties; Emil presented clinical and basic science investigations concerning the management of open tibial fractures; and Cato discussed the management of adhesive capsulitis. In the afternoon, the fellows participated in a FRCS review course and were the guests of Professor Learmonth and his staff at the course dinner at the Riverstation, a scenic restaurant located on the Bristol harbor.
