Day 14/15

The fellows enjoy a weekend in Scotland. On Saturday morning, after a hardy breakfast at the hosts homes, the fellows checked into the George Hotel, located on George street in proximity to the major sites in Edinburgh. The fellows then embarked towards the Eastern Coast where they played a spectacular links golf course at the Gullane Golf Club. The hosts were John Guy and Alistair Gibson. The setting was magnificient, with a view of the North Sea and surrounding mountains. An exciting game was in store and the fellows quickly learned about the narrow fairways and very thick rough. Many golf balls were lost, but fortunately each of the fellows had fifteen balls for the round. Cato (97) came in first, while Paul (101) and Kurt (102) had a battle for second. Larry was the best of the worst (111), while Regis (113) and Emil (119) got the most practice, but wondered if all of the shots had been tallied. The fellows returned and met up with Guy who spent the day site-seeing and shopping and had a quiet dinner and evening in Edinburgh.

In the morning, Cato and Emil joined Charles Court-Brown for a trip to northern Scotland, while the remainder did site-seeing in Edinburgh following vigorous morning exercises in the health club. The castle tour was outstanding and the historical significance of Edinburgh was soon apparent. The fellows were particular impressed by the Scottish National War Memorial. The formal quarters of the Scottish Royal Family, the great banquet hall, and St. Margaret's Chapel were also of great interest.

The fellows departed for the airport in the early evening for an 8 pm flight to Nottingham.
