The trip to Australia. The fellows left the U.K. on Friday morning for the long journey to Perth, Australia. The fellows engaged in a variety of activities on the trip - reading, reviewing papers, sleeping, and discussions, but were pleased to finally arrive in Perth. They were met at the airport by Mr. Peter Bath, the local host and by the people they would be staying with: Larry with Peter Woodland; Emil with Jeff Ecker; Kurt with Greg Wetherow; Regis with Peter Hales; Paul with Rob Genat; Cato with Mick Tiller; and Guy with Kon Kozak. Saturday evening was enjoyed with each of the host families. Emil attended the soccer game, Regis and Guy went to dinner in Freemantle, home of the America's Cup Races, Larry walked along the Beach, and Kurt, Paul, and Cato had dinner and a tour of Perth. On Sunday, the fellows met for lunch at Fraser's Restaurant, located in King's Park, with a beautiful view overlooking the city of Perth. Following lunch, the fellows had a golf outing at the Lake Karrinyup Country Club. The course was challenging and was populated by kangaroos, who were present on the fairways and around the greens (a pretty safe location when the fellows were hitting!). In the evening, the fellows were invited to a spectacular barbeque at the home of Peter and Jen Bath, featuring Australian fare such as kangaroo, emu, and crocodile
